Summer viewing

I have spent the day glued to 3sat, an Austro-German-Swiss conglomerate station that is quite good on the music front, and today has absolutely outdone itself.  Since 11 this morning (and it's now 20:45) there has been performance after performance after performance, most of them quite recent.  I'm posting this little comment to say that if you get the chance to see the Arena di Verona production of Il trovatore, of this year, with Anna Netrebko as Leonora, jump at it.  Once again, as in London for Forza, she delivers a formidable performance, at the top of her form.  If you can persuade the 3sat website you're residing in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, it might be possible to get a replay.  Whatever you think of Verona, of Zeffirelli productions, or of Yusif Eyvazov, this is not to be missed!
